*Sigh*

Damn. Things have gotten bad when you resort to posting pictures of your crotch. Damn, damn, damn. Can you tell that someone is horny ... very, very horny? Can you tell that someone needs attention? Can you guess that someone isn't going to get any of the attention that he so desperately needs? Can you guess that someone's gonna end up all alone tonight ... drunk, depressed, watching porn?

[Ole Blue]

Damn. I sure am gonna miss Bob Edwards.

And the underwear for today is ... Joe Boxer!

Big Plans for the Weekend!

Before he decided to get the hell outta dodge, Evil and I were talking about how there hadn't been a decent horror period piece made in quite some time. Maybe "The Village" will be fill in nicely. From the trailer it looks like it might.

Whee! According to Aimee Mann's official site, she will be swinging back through Asheville in June. That's "wet my pants" news! 'Cause I likes me some Aimee Mann.

And to answer Mike's question in a "quickie" kinda way ... yeah ... I am pretty near all the places mentioned ... Murphy/Andrews (Rudolph Country), Highlands, Franklin. You know, it seems like everyone lives in California.

Work is still funky. I may have to switch over and become an "after work" blogger. Grrrr.

Tuesday, April 27, 2004

Blah, blah, blah. Been riding that ole emotional roller coaster again for the past few days ... happy, sad, miserable, paranoid. Grrr. I know you all are probably getting tired of listening to me whine. But, guess what? This blog is about me, me, me, me, me!!! Well ... me and maybe some porno and a horror film or two.

Decided to re-up some online personals again so that I can be really disappointed when nobody responds.

Surely there are some gay fellas in the area that read this blog. I'd like to think so anyway.

Temps are getting warmer. Trees are turning green. Whoo for spring.

Oh, baby! This summer, "Jaws" gets an update and it looks like it's gonna be sweet.

Monday, April 26, 2004

Well, I though that things might have calmed down by now ... but they haven't. Grrrr. This really isn't helping my mental state much. Work is so nutty (and with no fixed schedule) that I feel like things are out of control. Stuff keep constantly coming out of left field. And, of course, that makes planning the day impossible. Grrrr! This too shall pass ... this too shall pass ... this too shall pass.

Wednesday, April 21, 2004

My goodness. This week has been crazy. So, why don't we just say that you probably won't hear from me again until Monday. That way, those of you (and you know who you are) won't worry that I have gone suicidal and off-ed myself. Things are busy ... not bad. Rock hard in a funky place, y'all.

Tuesday, April 20, 2004

Something to look forward to will be the chance to see Shirley Horn at the Atlanta Jazz Festival next month. I can't even begin to tell you all how much I dig Shirley ... her smooth voice, her impeccable presentation and her unique piano playing style.

Grrr ... I really need to find a new job.

[Greatest Comic Strip. Ever.]

Ah, the weekend is over. Another one gone before it could be enjoyed ... especially since the weather was so, so sweet.

Friday Night:
We partied for Michelle's B-Day at her new digs. I got to meet some of her new neighbors and hang out with some folks that I hadn't seen in a while. Seemed like everyone had a nice time. Of course, the MagicSing made an appearance. Whee! Songs sang by me were "Like a Virgin," "Bette Davis Eyes," "Separate Ways," Let's Dance," "Don't You Want Me" and "Been Around the World." I called it am early evening as PT, Matt and I were gonna be heading into the woods bright and squirrely the next morning.

Saturday:
The fellas and I didn't end up going on the Mount Cammerer hike (bummer) as PT had to be back in time to clean up for a 6:00 p.m. engagement. So, we headed down into the Cataloochee Valley and enjoyed a loop hike involving the Caldwell Fork, Big Fork Ridge and Rough Fork. Sites that were enjoyed along the way were the elk enclosure, old mountain farmsteads, Big Poplars and a certain cute Park Ranger Murphy. That evening I was in the mood for some questionable movies, so I rented "The Rundown" and "The Transporter." While enjoyable as a piece of fluff cinema, "The Rundown" was mostly saved by the fact that Sean William Scott gets shirtless during part of the movie. You may think that I am crazy, but if The Rock ever gets a really good action script he could really be quite a good action movie star ... far better than A-nold ever was. The only good thing about "The Transporter" was Jason Statham and Jason Statham shirtless.

Sunday:
Sundays have turned into lazy days. Slept in late, napped on the couch most of the afternoon and grilled out with the roomie and his woman. Mmmmmm, grilled meat!

Friday, April 16, 2004

I'm off into the woods tomorrow to enjoy the sites ... snakes, bears, trees, cute-hetero-hiker boys. Gonna put the bad shit outta my mind and enjoy the weekend. Y'all do the same!

I was having a pretty good day until this dropped into my Inbox:

Subj: workin' for the MAN!
Date: 4/16/2004 12:24:10 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From: "Livengood"

I got the job! I had to go in and do a drug test and everything today. I didn't enjoy that part too much...I was worried that they were gonna flip out on me and want my blood. Needless to say, I survived the vampiric hordes. I'm pysched. Hopefully I'll be starting on Monday or Tuesday. It's such an odd feeling. I've been looking for work for such a long time that I can't believe that A.) I have a job now 2.) It's a pretty damn good job and III.) I'll be working in my actual field of study! I just always assumed you graduate college with a liberal arts degree and go do something totally different than what you just studied for four years. Well, to say the very least, I'm a very happy monkey. Just thought I'd share tha news! LAters!

It's for the best ... really. He was never mine to have to let go of. I can't even begin to tell you how partially happy and ultimately devastated I am at this point.

And now a big Birthday Shout Out to Michelle ... who turns the rip ole age of 31 today. Ah, Michelle ... that world traveler ... that goddess of the MagicSing ... that Cuban rock star ... lover of all things "South Park" and "Wizard of Oz." Happy Birthday, babe!

[Pack Up & Move Out.]
With the promise of spectacular weather on Saturday (sunny and 70), it's time to strap on the ole boots and hit the woods again. I think that it might be time for the fellas to do something a little bit more intense than we have been. If time allows, I'm gonna drag 'em up the Chestnut Branch Trail, up the Appalachian Trail and out to the summit of Mount Cammerer. Mount Cammerer boast sweeping views down into Tennessee along the state line and has a super-cool fire tower that's unlike any of the others in the park. You know, I may stay dateless for the rest of my life ... but it sure is nice to have this in the backyard.

Okay ... I can now say that actually having looked at Michael Savage's website that I am disgusted and disturbed by what is presented there ... hate thinly disguised as patriotism.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that liberals now have something to crow about ... their own talk radio network. I will confess that I was all excited about the prospect of the good folks battling those evil doers (Hannity, Savage, Limbaugh, O'Reilly) on their own turf. But, now having listened to a couple of days of Air America Radio (you can stream it off the web), I must say the idea of liberal talk radio doesn't appeal to me anymore. I figured that liberal radio would take the high road and present a thoughtful, measured response to the insanity of the right. Sadly that is not the case. Air America Radio spouts just the same kind of garbage that the conservative right does (only from a liberal view, of course). I guess that it's too much to ask for something in the middle for us who feel we have some marginal amount of intelligence.

[The Love of My Life]

In more TV show on DVD news ... Fox has announced that "Millennium" will arrive in July. Dr. Phibes, you may now wet yourself!

Wednesday, April 14, 2004

You know, it really is amazing how writing about your failures, inadequacies and paranoia to strangers can make you feel better.

In Retro-DVD News ...
Now, after a teasing pre-announcement during a March online chat, and with word of a new mini-series being in-the-works, Warner Home Video brings "V: The Series" home in a new 3-DVD set. July 27th is the day you can get your DVD package of "V: The Complete Series," featuring all 19-episodes of the original television series "V" for the first time ever in a 3-disc DVD collector's set.

This almost makes me as happy as the "Wonder Woman" announcement ...
[Smiles and wipes drool from chin.]

[Damn It!]
Grrr. Old Man Winter just doesn't want to go away ...

Yeah. I got manic over the weekend. It was stay busy or go crazy. Turns out that I was able to stay busy and go crazy at the same time. Geez. Friday night after a couple of beers I got the urge to rearrange my messy office. So, a couple of hours later that task was done. My desk now faces the door instead of the wall. It's gonna work out better that way.

Saturday I decided to see what shape the hardwood floors are in. The house has hardwood floors in the original part of the house but they have all been covered over by carpeting, tile and laminate flooring. Ugh. The small section I took up in the office looked pretty good. So, over the afternoon I was able to pull up about 2/3 of the carpet in that room. Saturday night I went to a cookout and it just ended up being two married couples and myself. I don't know ... it got me down being the single gay guy in amongst "straight and coupled." That night I had a dream about "Evil" ... and, no it wasn't one of "those" kinda dreams. I have never had a dream involving sex with the "Evil" one. I have only had two. In the first we were walking with a mutual friend. When the friend wasn't looking, "Evil" leaned in and whispered in my ear about how much he loved me. He told me that he had always felt that way and was finally ready for me to know it. In this one he had come back to visit and had a bunch of his Florida friends with him. He had lost weight and was looking better than ever. It was very clear that he had moved on and I was still stuck. That's when I woke up at 5 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep.

Sunday I spent all day in a funk ... alternately pulling up carpet and sitting in the floor wanting to cry. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Wanting to cry got nothing accomplished, but I did get all the carpeting out of that room and got furniture and such moved back into place ... and at some point later I will have to take it all back apart and actually refinish the floor. That night I lay in the bed hugging my Bart Simpson Talking Doll thinking dark thoughts. But, no more dreams.

So, silence from me on Monday here. Work this week has been full of stress. More stress than there needs to be. New equipment. God, I hate learning to use new equipment. Especially when the boss expects you just to be able to make it work on the first try. As much as I want to think so, I aint that good.

Tuesday, April 13, 2004

Hi. It's me ... not dead yet. So much going on right now, but none of it exciting or thrilling. SSDD, people. Details to follow ...

Friday, April 09, 2004

Hmmm. Already mulling over another design. So, maybe over the weekend, the look here will change again for the third time this year. Whoo!

Hot damn! I now have a ticket to "An Evening with Siouxsie: The Creatures & The Banshees" at the Variety Playhouse in September.
I'm so happy I could wet myself ...

[All the world is waiting for you ...]

I would be lying if I said that I actually had something brilliant or interesting to post here. The brain just isn't firing any of its creative pistons right now. Hence Jessica Biel's ass yesterday ... much to the praise and consternation of faithful readers.

Dang. Is it "Miller Time" yet?

Grrr. It's hard to make changes to a customer's job when Customer Service doesn't hand you the job jacket back. Damn. I hate getting fussed at about something I didn't really do. Grrr.

It really is a shame that David Fincher didn't participate in the "Alien Quadrilogy" dvd box set. It would have been so sweet to have his comments on the making of "Alien3." I was watching his audio commentary on the new "Panic Room" Special Edition last night (after fixing the damn mailbox), and it's really good. Fincher is always has interesting insights into the selection and direction of his films. His commentaries on the special editions of "Seven" and "Fight Club" are worth a listen as well. Maybe (at some point in the future) Criterion will get the rights back and be able to release their laser disc edition of "The Game" on dvd. Mmmm, David Fincher!!!

It's always nice to get home from a long day at work to find that your mailbox and the support piece for it have been violently ripped from the mailbox post and then thrown all over your driveway. Yea for Mondays!

From a few weeks back ... PT enjoying Wesser Bald on the Appalachian Trail.

Smack me 'cause I am bummed. "Evil" has left the building.

Hmmm ... what else happened this weekend? Bought some books to read, saw "Dawn of the Dead" one more time, finished running lights for that show in A-ville. The cute married fella (that was in charge of the show) and I got to talking horror films. Heh, heh. He's a horror buff as well and suggested that we get together, get high and watch some movies .... [insert very dirty thought here].

Standing stunned in the hall
While you fumble with your lighter
And I could make sure you recall
But I'm a lover not a fighter
...
And it's a wonder that you're here
And it's a wonder that I'm still waiting
Well act surprised - act surprised now baby
...
Drop your delivery
Hold still and look at me in the eyes
...
Well I always loved your accent
Fake though it was
Like you just got back from somewhere
And you could not adjust
...
Well it's a wonder that you're here
And it's a wonder that I'm still waiting
Act surprised - Act surprised now baby

Superchunk - Act Surprised [3.78 MB]

Thursday, April 01, 2004

Yeah. Today is that pesky first day of April. I had thought about being all crafty and telling some story about getting the phone number of the cute check-out guy at Best Buy last night ... or about hooking up with the cute married fella who's in charge of the show I am running lights for over in A-ville. Or ... I could tell you a story about coming home from that rehearsal and watching the extras on "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" dvd late into the evening... all by lonesome. Ah, the cold hard truth. April first should be a day for telling the truth instead of telling lies. Maybe I will be truthful this evening.

Mmmm, Superchunk.

Yowza! It looks as if three of my music heros will be coming through Atlanta this year. How sweet would it be to get to see all three? Pretty sweet!
Shirley Horn in May at the Altanta Jazz Festival
The Cure in July/August at the Fox Theatre
Siouxsie in September at the Variety Playhouse

Plus, I wanna know who invited Old Man Winter to come back into town.
